14MZ Radio System FAQ

I have a smoke pump on my plane. I want to select the flow of smoke with LD, but also have a switch that will turn the smoke off and on to the exact position that I predetermined by the LD. How do I do this?

This can be accomplished by the use of Conditions.

  1. To set up the first condition, go into the Function screen located in the Linkage menu and select a channel that you have this set to on your receiver. (For reference, we used the name Fuel-Mix on channel 8 to set this up). Next, leaving Control as NULL set the Trim as LD.

  2. Now create a second condition by going into the Condition Select screen located in the Model menu. Press Add, and then assign this to the switch you would like to turn the smoke off and on. The On position will need to be set opposite what you would normally set. In this case, instead of having Down as your On position, you will set Up as your On position.

  3. You will want to exit the Condition screen now, (leaving your switch set to the Up position as that you remain in Condition 2 and go back to the Function screen in your Linkage menu. This time you will again go to the channel 8 Fuel-Mix (or whichever function you have your pump on) and make sure that both Control and Trim are NULL.

What this will now do is give you the option of (with your switch in the Down position) setting the amount of flow on your smoke pump. But once you flip the switch to the Up position, this will shut the pump off while flipping the switch Down will turn the pump on to the point that you set the LD.
