14MZ Radio System FAQ

I want to set my Ultrastik up with my 14MZ. I have two ailerons, two flaps, and two elevators, can you help me?

Lets try to walk through this, but doing, please remember that you will most likely have some control surfaces different than mine, so you may need to adjust percentages or rates to change the direction of your servos.

  1. First select a new model, you will want to pick the correct wing and tail type. For the Wing Type, you will want 2 AIL + 2 FLP. For the Tail Type you will want to choose AILVATOR. After you touch Model Type to get out of this screen, you will be taken to the Frequency Screen to select the channel you want this on. If you need to make a change here you can do so now, or simply touch Frequency to take you back to the Model Select screen. You will also need to go into your AILVATOR menu and zero out the rates for your Ailerons.

  2. At this point, you can choose to name this model by touching the Rename button on the right-hand side of your screen. If you do not wish to rename this at this time, touch the Model Select button at the top left of your screen, you will be taken to the Linkage Menu.

  3. Here you will want to set up your ATV, Subtrim if needed, Throttle cut, Fail safe, etc.

  4. Now we're ready to set up your model, so touch the Picture of your model, or press the Model Menu button at the bottom of your screen. We'll do the set up row by row as they appear on your screen.

    1. Touch Prog. Mixes, next to the number 1 you will see the word Inhibit after that you will see Mode and then Group, touch Group (we are going to make this mix active for this model only). You will be asked to touch Yes or No, touch Yes. As we are going to do two mixes, you may want to go ahead and touch Group on the number 2 mix also. Again when asked to touch Yes or No, touch Yes.

    2. Now that we have both mixes marked to be active on this model only, lets go into your first mix and set it up.

    3. On mix number 1, touch the word Inhibit. Directly under the box Prog. Mixes in the upper left-hand corner, you will want to touch the box labeled INH, this will make the mix active. At this time also select which Switch you want your Full Span Flaps on by touching the box directly right of the INH/ON button.

    4. Next touch Master and select Flap, touch close. Touch Slave and select Aileron, then touch Close. Next I want to "link out" the Aileron, so touch the small square box directly next to the Slave channel. You will most likely get Plus sign here, but I needed to touch this once again to make mine have a Negative sign, which reversed the direction of my Aileron for me, but this will depend on your servo set ups, so you may have to make adjustments here. Now simply go to your Rate's A and B and select the percentages that you need.

    5. Our next mix will be number 2. Directly under the box "Prog. Mixes" in the upper left-hand corner, you will want to touch the box labeled INH, this will make the mix active. At this time also select switch you want to make this active, I which will be Switch C. Selecting the switch will take you to the "switch screen", touch the box on the far right-hand side that says "ON posi." And make Up the On position for this mix, then touch Close.

    6. Next touch Master and select Elevator, touch close. Touch Slave and select Aileron, then touch Close. Next I want to "link out" the Aileron, so touch the small square box directly next to the Slave channel. You will most likely get Plus sign here, again I needed to touch this once more to make mine have a Negative sign, which reversed the direction of my Flaperons for me. Once again set your Rate's A and B and select the percentages that you need.

    7. You will now want to make AIL to Camber FLP active. Touch the corresponding box in your Model Menu, and touch the INH button to make it active. Now you will want to set the rates for both sides, for this example I made my rates both 100%. Select your switch, I assigned mine to Switch G in the Down position. And NOTE: Remember in each of these functions, you will want to change the mode from GRP. to Sngl.

    8. Next we will drop down to the bottom row and make RUD to AIL active by touching INH. I assigned this to Switch G in the down position and have set my rates to 50%. (These rate setting are for EXAMPLE only). NOTE: Remember in each of these functions, you will want to change the mode from GRP. to Sngl.

    9. The next step will be to make RUD to ELE active. Again changing from GRP to Sngl. And this one I assigned to Switch E in the down position and made my rates both 30%.

    10. Last but not least is Airbrake. When you go into this one you will be at page 1 of 2 pages.

On the first page, you will first want to set your percentages, I set Ail and Ail2's Offset at +140%, FLP and FLP2's at -150%, and ELE at -50% and ELE 2 at +50%.

On the second page, I activated the mix and changed to Sngl. mode, then assigned this to switch C in the Down position.
